OMaD - Week 30

Hello! This week turned out to be kinda crazy! A nice run followed by a fall followed by a trip to a clinic followed by day trip with my boyfriend! Whew!

July 17 - 23

Day 199: 0 Mile - A nice relaxing day with the boyfriend. Brunch. Netflix. Naps. Another birthday celebration dinner at his parents (his grandma turned 90 this past weekend!) then back to watch more of The Pacific.

Day 200: 7.01 Miles - Well, I got a late start, so it was hotter than it typically like. I was doing good during the entire run. My shins weren't hurting. If anything I was just tired of the heat. I had 0.15 a mile to go by the time I got back to where my car was parked. I went against my own rules and I ran along the side of the road. On the way back there were some cars and bikes and people walking. My Garmin finally beeped 7.00 miles. So I start making move to stop on the shoulder of the road at the edge of the gravel parking lot. My right ankle rolls. I stumble. I fall with totally awesome cat-like reflexes... and land my left knee. Ouch! I stood up... BLOOD! Yep. I knew it. It was bad, people. I hobbled to my car (past people who saw me go down and didn't say a thing) and get toilet paper and baby wipes to clean the leg and my knee. It was bad. First thought (beyond swearing a lot) that I need my Doctor Mom. I finally get a hold of her while I'm driving to her house to let her know. By the time I got there the wound at stopped bleeding, thankfully. At one point my mom go all the first aid stuff, my dad came out from his office, and my sister, off from work, came out of her room. They all looked at my knee and said, "You need stitches." My breathing quickens, I'm seeing stars. As my mom was saying that she wanted to me to sit some place better than at the kitchen table, I grab her arm and said, "No!". For the record, I didn't faint, but close to it. My sister is calling one of those clinics to see if they do stitches while I have my head between my knees and my mom is fanning me. So, basically, I ended up having 5 stitches on my lower knee. I finally ate a meal around 2:00 or so, which was 3.5 hrs after I finished my run.  My boyfriend called me when he got off of work (I had texted him that I fell and my mom was sending him updates. She was my hand holder and photographer. Lol!). I then spent the rest of the day on my sister's bed watching movies and eating popsicles and ice cream (I did have tacos for dinner). I think I took a nap around 7 or something like that. Lesson here, folks, be careful of running on the shoulder of a road and keep a med kit in the car! I'm definitely going to need some new running socks now.

Day 201: 0 Mile - I managed through work just fine. My knee was fine. Mentally I was still tired the whole day!

Day 202:  0 Mile - Stopped by the clinic for them to look at my Frankenknee (I love that name! Thanks, Mom!). No infection! Yay! Looks like I can get the stitches out late next week. Whew! I made a pretty banging meat loaf (Thanks, Alton Brown!) with some veggies for dinner with my boyfriend!

Day 203:  0 Mile - Well! Since I wasn't able to get my car's oil change and tires rotated on my day off (aka Monday) I got that all taken care of instead of running before work.

Day 204: 0 Mile - My last day of work for the week! Aaahh! I've been in a funk all day long. I had some slightly disappointing news last night and I think it just put me in a depression about life. I was so happy when work was over so that all I had to do was focus on the next day... a vacation day!

Day 205: 0 Mile - Barely a month ago or so my boyfriend and I were sharing lists of top food places for each state. One fore BBQ and pizza popped up and all of a sudden we ha decided that we needed to go to Austin just to eat some good food! So! We left early this morning got our necessary road trip food (trail mix and jerky). We got stuck in traffic downtown, but we made good time otherwise and made it to The Salt Lick right before noon! Yum! Then we walked around Lady Bird Lake for a bit before checking out Book People (I wanted to buy so many books!) and Waterloo Record (MS loves records!). Oh, and we did stop by an awesome Luke's Locker secretly for free water and a bathroom break, but I also got to check out some compression socks and awesome tanks (I was good and didn't buy anything!). Around 4:30 or so we decided  it was time to mosey our way home instead of eating pizza. I did stop at Buc-ee's on the way for MS to experience it and to get more yummies an some coffee. Oh, and don't forget the kolaches in West! I have now converted my boyfriend to a kolaches lover! Yes! We were home by 8:30pm. Tired but so ready for our next adventure.

OMaD - Week 29

Another crazy busy week! There is always something up!

July 10 - 16

Day 192: 0 Mile - Nice relaxing day complete with another birthday dinner with my boyfriend's siblings. Mmmmm. BBQ.

Day 193: 8.01 Miles - Well! I switched to a new pair of shoes and there was less discomfort in my shins than before. I noticed that my Garmin hasn't been tracking the mileage on the shoes I had been wearing for the past few months. Technically they still should be good for another month or two, but I switched them out just in case. I've also been roll and using the stick on my shins and that's been helping. Yay! It was a cloudy day and some mighty strong wind. Certainly helped cool things down too. Plus, I ran on the "flatter" side of the lake too.

Day 194:  0 Mile - I did a kettlebell workout this morning after a long break! Whew! I forgot how much you sweat in just 20 minutes!

Day 195:  0 Mile - Boy! Am I feeling that kettlebell work out now!

Day 196:  0 Mile - I woke up late today and decided that I wasn't going to run outside. Or on a treadmill. So I got on the bike. Done and done.

Day 197: 8.0 Miles - I pretty much didn't get a lunch our today because I was so busy at work. I pretty much lived off of chocolate chip cookies, coffee and water. After work MS and I cancelled our plans because my new replacement phone was in and we had head out to get it (otherwise wait until Sunday). Afterwards it was our favorite little Chinese place.

Day 198: 0 Mile - I spent the evening with my besties watching Richard III at Shakespeare in the Park. It was really nice and relaxing, but I'm really ready to not do anything for a while tomorrow.

OMaD - Week 28

Happy July 4th, everyone! I had a great weekend and a semi-tiring week.... and the beginning of shin splints.

July 3 - 9

Day 185:  0 Mile - Slept in till 10am for once, which was amazing. I even ignored my kitty and he had a late breakfast as well. My boyfriend and I had brunch at a place called Judy's Cafe over in Garland. I had heard some positive reviews about their cinnamon bread, something that I'm all about! So that's what we had. It was a great little mom and pop place, and I'd totally be back for the cinnamon bread french toast combo! After that we spent the afternoon chilling before we headed over to MS's parents to celebrate his dad's birthday (and sorta mine). It was a nice visit. At the end of the day we parked in a grocery store parking lot to watch the fireworks from Addison's Kaboom Town from the comfort of an air conditioned car!

Day 186:  0 Mile - Aaah! Holiday! MS thankfully had the day off from work! Brunch again with my sweet then we watched The Walking Dead for a bit. We were supposed to go to a friend's cookout then fireworks, but that fell through. So we decided to drive out to Plano to watch the fireworks from the best spot on the hill. Then it was a late night dinner of Whataburger.

Day 187:  3.16 Miles - Happy Birthday to me! Thanks to coworker/running buddy HC, I had the day off. I did a quick 5k run since I had to do something, but I was under a time limit. Plus, my shins were feeling funny. Boo! I spent the day with my parents then we met up with my sister and boyfriend for dinner at Chuy's. Afterwards MS and I went to Whole Foods to pick out a cake and some ice cream, which we shared with the others at home.

Day 188:  0 Mile - Back to work. It was a nice calm day. Afterwork, MS gave me his birthday presents then took me to Cane Rosso for some uberly tasty pizza!

Day 189:  0 miles - No mid-week run today. I decided to sleep in and to rest my shins. It feels so wrong missing a run. However, if I keep running while my legs are not 100% and  I make things so much worse. It's like a double-edge sword. I've totally been researching compression socks and so on that I could wear at work after runs.

Day 190: 0 Mile - It's been such a busy week! My boyfriend and I braved a social dinner with some of my coworkers/friends. Then it was pretty much veg in front of the TV night.

Day 191: 0 Mile -Saturday! Glorious Saturday! Dinner and rest!

OMaD - Week 27

There is light at the end of the tunnel as to a normal-ish work schedule, and the holiday is coming!

June 26 - July 2

Day 178:  0 Mile - It was such a nice relaxing Sunday! My boyfriend and I had brunch at the Coffee House Cafe, which was totally worth the wait. Then it was off to the Galleria to do some shopping. We made it home in time to start the crockpot to make our own chicken taco meat. Then we watched Band of Brothers while we waited. I gotta say, the tacos were ah-mazing! This is the recipe, we used. I found on Pinterest Saturday afternoon. It's definitely one of our favorites now!

Day 179:  8.01 Miles - It was hot. Terribly hot. I struggled with my run. I actually had to cut it down from a 9 miler to an 8. My legs were achy, making me worried about shin splints. I was also an idiot and did not foam roll or stretch well after the run. But I did lounge around all day relaxing and binge watched the Masterpiece Mystery series Granchester.

Day 180:  0 Mile - Crazy busy day, especially for a Tuesday. I didn't get to relax until I was home. I swung by the story to get an apple pie and some ice cream because it was one of those days. In fact, it is true. In the past 15 days I did work 12 of them. On 2 of the 3 days off I ran long distance and had appointments. This past Monday was the only day that I did nothing. Whew! My shins were achy too, which was worrisome. I ended up eating my dessert with compression sleeves on my legs and a bag of frozen veggies on my shins.... and totally falling asleep like that (plate was empty).

Day 181:  0 Mile - FINALLY a nice day off! I chilled and played solitaire all morning before I headed out to get my hair cut. I had lunch with my parents before I headed out to a long wait at the eye doctor. But it was successful. My eyes are good. I got a new pair of glasses and got a rebate by having them put in prescription lenses in my new pair of Ray Bands that MS bought me. Then it was off to have Chinese for dinner and froyo with my awesome sweet.

Day 182:  4.01 Miles - I was worried about my shins during this run, but after awhile they weren't achy, which was great. I did make sure that I foam rolled and used my stick to massage them. When I got home I totally ate the rest of my ice cream from the other night.

Day 183: 0 Mile -It's almost the weekend! My besties and I spent the hot evening at Shakespeare in the Park. It was a great night!

Day 184: 0 Mile - It was a very busy day at work, but thankfully the moment I was free my three day three day weekend began! My boyfriend and I joined my parents and siblings for dinner before the kiddos (aka us younger people) went to Top Golf. I should stick to running because I suck at golf other than putt-putt.

OMaD - Week 26 Recap

This was a crazy, crazy week! I need a vacation!

June 19- June 25

Day 171: 0 Miles - My boyfriend made the most delicious breakfast tacos for brunch this morning. It was the only time I was going to get to see him before I spent post of the day at work before going down to my parents for Father's Day dinner.

Day 172: 9.01 Miles - Thankfully it was cooler than it has been, but it was still bright and sunny and hot. My pace has slowed down immensely since the heat index has gone up like crazy. Nonetheless, I made it through. A little past half way through I got my cool towel wet and wore it the rest of the way. The last couple of miles were the hardest, for sure. I also decided to try out wearing sunglasses in addition to my visor. It was nice to have extra shade, but the rims were kinda rubbing on my cheeks. After my run I had lunch with my parents before having a sit down with my doctor about my blood results. All is good, peeps! I'm healthy. After all the work in the morning and being nervous in the afternoon (doctors scare me) I was bet. I had a delicious dinner and I proceeded to pass out. I think I officially went to bed at 9:30pm with Ibuprofen to help my achy legs.

Day 173: 0 Miles - I had an early start this morning with an appointment. Work was busy and long. I got home with intention to tidy up the apartment to be ready for the bug man, but I sat on the couch with a snack. I passed out. Still in my dress I wore to work. Yeah. That happened.

Day 174: 0 Miles - I can't even remember what happened this day. I know I saw my boyfriend that evening, but what we had for dinner completely has slipped my mind. I know I slept well that night.

Day 175: 4.57 Miles - My Garmin decided to go on strike during this run. I hadn't updated the Garmin yet so during the during I hat a 1:20 pace! It was a crazy day at work, as usual.

Day 176: 0 Miles - Friday. Nope. No glue as to what I did this day other than work, eat and sleep.

Day 177: 0 Mile - My boyfriend cooked me the most tasty Pollo Guisado Saturday night! I love dating a chef!

OMaD - Week 25 Recap

Even though it's the week before the first day of summer... I can already tell that it's here! Ack!

June 12 - June 18

Day 164:  0 Miles - It was a great, relaxing day. After a brunch of pancakes, eggs and bacon and coffee (one of my favorite!), my boyfriend and I headed out to REI. I found a totally awesome backpack that will work great for my trip to Vancouver, BC and for any other future adventures. We browsed Half Priced Books for a little but, but nothing jumped out at us. Back home it was totally a much of Dill Pickle Popcorn and watch 6 episodes of The Walking Dead (season 4, omg!).

Day 165:  9.01 Miles - Got up uber early to hit the lake. I got there around 7:45am or so, and the temps weren't too bad. It was definitely mid 70s with 100% humidity, but there was a little bit of a breeze (other than the one I created myself while running) that helped. I felt good for most of the entire run, I think it helped that I took a different route than what I typically do. The lat two miles, I have to admit, were a little hard cause I was tiring out. But I did it! The rest of the day consisted of a BBQ lunch with a friend, crashing for a couple of hours then commencing a the Summer Purge of my apartment.

Day 166:  0 Miles - I skipped my morning gym visit to sleep in (I really needed it) and did some more purging. I also decided to hit up Old Navy to take advantage of the sale. I was hoping to score some good running clothes, but nothing fit quite right. Boo! I did walk away with an awesome donut tee shirt and two pairs of shorts. I can't wait to wear them! I've been wearing black colored shorts for a year, so I'm a little excited to be branching out a bit!

Day 167:  0 Miles - Rest day. MS and I decided that it was time for some legit Philly Cheese Steaks. Yum! Then more popcorn as I finally started watching Band of Brothers. It's good so far!

Day 168:  6.22 Miles - It's official. I hate summer run. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about what to wear (hello, tanks and shorts!), but dang! It is so blessedly hot out! The moment I got to the park I knew this was going to be a hot run. Thankfully there was a breeze every so often, but I totally took advantage of running in the shaded wooded area. However, once I got to 4.75 miles the F-bombs were landing and continued landing until I finished. So hot! But I did it! I'm ready for Fall weather running!

Day 169: 0 Miles - Long day at work, but it I made up with it afterwards. My boyfriend ate at one of our favorite taco spots, Resident Taqueria. Take a look at those deliciousness! Then after that we had our first special ice cream stacker from Cow Tipping Creamery. So rich. So good. So much ice cream! Back at my apartment he finally nudge me into using my dishwasher for the very first time. I have a huge confession to make. In the seven years that I have been living in an apartment I have washed all my dishes by hand. True story. Well, I've gotten so busy with work and running and a dating life that I know need to use the dishwasher. I cleaned the heck out of it, but was still unsure. So the next thing I know MS is loading my machine full of dishes and made me put a detergent in it. Yep. My mom is proud of me (truth!).

Day 170: 0 Miles - Is it the weekend yet? Not for this girl. Boo!
