OMaD - Week 13 Recap

Second to the last week of March!

March 20 - March 26

Day 80: 13.36 Miles - Dallas Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon! Whoo hoo! It was a really good race. I'll have a recap for you soon....ish! Hee hee. But I'll tell you that this race went by quickly in some respects. I kept on going, "Really, another mile done?" I PRed by a few seconds, which is great. The course was fun and you got to see some the cools spots of the city, Deep Ellum, Dealey Plaza, and the Bishop Arts District. It was super crowded at the finish line, which made it feel like there were are for more runners at this race compared to last year. And my amazing boyfriend made it to the start and got an awesome video of me at the finish! Afterwards we met my parents at Chuy's Tex-Mex for some good food before going home to rest. Pretty much I spent the afternoon in PJs watching the movie He Never Died with Henry Rollins. Plus I let MS use his tens unit on my legs. It was the first time I've ever tried a tens unit and I kept on giggling cause it felt so weird, but it really did help! My hamstring felt a lot better afterwards. Eventually we had energy to go to Whole Foods to good food for dinner. MS made be a delicious sea bass with brown rice and asparagus. We also had cake and ice cream. Pretty much... I started to fall asleep during The Walking Dead, which I thought was an impossible thing.

Day 81: 0 Miles - Rest day! My legs felt tired, but it wasn't too bad!

Day 82: 0 Miles - Well. I didn't get my spinning in cause I relocated to my parents' place so that I could help doggy sit.

Day 83: 0 Miles - Normal rest day with frustrating work to keep things alive! Yay. Not. We were hit a pretty big storm in the late evening that cause some damage, but thankfully everything nothing of mine was hit.

Day 84: 0 Miles - I had totally discovered that I had left my running gear at my apartment. So no running today. Next week I'll back at it.

Day 85: 0 Miles - After work MS and I had the best chinese I've had in a while. Maybe it was because I hardly anything to eat during the day. I took an extended lunch time to get my haircut, and only had time for a small jicama salad and a granola bar. Then we spot a lot of time going to grocery stores to get stuff for Easter.

Day 86: 0 Miles - Work. Boo. I wanted to be home for the day. But I had a good dinner with my momma after she got home from a trip!

OMaD - Week 12 Recap

One week until my first half marathon for the year! I'm not sure if I trained enough, but there isn't much I can do about that now!

March 13 - March 19

Day 73: 0 Miles - It was a gorgeous and wonderful day with my love! We had coffee near White Rock Lake. Then I was introduce to the Bishop Arts District! I want all days to be like this one!

Day 74: 0 Miles - The time totally slapped me in the face this morning. So after much debating and talking to my mom I had decided not to run this morning like I usually do. Instead I slept in a bit more than had a nice breakfast before heading up to Denton to visit my bestie JM. It ended up being a girls night with KJ over for cinnamon rolls and coffee and girl talk.

Day 75: 3.22 Miles - This was a rough 5k. I got out late. I think my shoes have had it - they have about 365 miles on them - and caused my knee and lower legs ache. There was clear blue skies, but it was warm - around 68 degrees, which was the warmest/humid day I've run this year. Looks like on my last run on Thursday will be in awaiting pair of Saucony Omni. Good thing I have them an I don't have worry about going to the running store to get a new pair.

Day 76: 0 Miles - Rest day! Whew!

Day 77: 3.15 Miles - I was up and out the door by 9:30am. But it was chilly and windy and I wasn't dressed for it. So I bugged out of running outside and headed to the gym. I got a solid 5k in, which nice. I never know how many miles I should hit when I'm tapering for a half marathon since I haven't really followed any training for this distance for a long long time. I will probably pick one for the SeaWheeze in August. On the plus side, I wore my new pair of Omni 12 and I felt good!

Day 78: 0 Miles - Can I get a bit real here? All day I ate relatively healthy yesterday. Maybe a little too many roasted potatoes with my eggs after my run, but oh well. I tried my hardest to drink water all day after my coffee - I even added lemon slices. When I got home from work I snacked on some Triscuit, cheese, and Sriracha. Not too bad. But then after doing a couple of chores and getting in comfy clothes, I decided to get a spoonful of peanut butter and a jelly. Well, that turned into multiple spoonfuls. I spent the rest of the night and now this morning seriously worried that I'm out of control with my eating. And I'm worried that I won't be able to stop, especially since my boyfriend and love of my life is a chef (you know that they make good food!). I have portion control issues. I have gained at least 5 pounds and a pant size since Thanksgiving (right at my peak of marathon training), I'm afraid the scale is going to keep going up despite all of my running and healthy eating attempts. I've talked to my bestie JM, and she promotes Weight Watchers (she's lost so much weight and looks so amazing!), but I'm not sure if I can do that yet. Plus, it's so much money that I don't have or am willing to spend on that (I'm traveling a lot this year and I have to save up for potentially something big next year). I feel a little lost right now.

Day 79: 0 Miles -What a busy day! It started out relaxing enough. Coffee with MS before we had lunch at Wich Which. Then it was down to the Dallas convention center to get my packet for the half. After the seamless process of getting my bib and race shirt we walked the vendors and nothing spoke to me (my wallet rejoices!) other than getting large size bottles for my Fitletics belt. After the expo we went next door to the Dallas Automotive Show where I totally scored some awesome Girlfriend Gold Stars! Then it was home for a little rest before we headed back into the city to join my running buddy HC and her hubby at the Beef Team dinner! Mmmm... steak! Afterwards I got my gear in order, drank two water bottles worth of water (a pinky promise I made with MS), and I was asleep by 11:30.

OMaD - Week 11 Recap

This week is brought to you by rain storms.

February 6 - March 12

Day 66: 0 Miles - A really nice relaxing day. A couple of errands in the afternoon, and I got to watch the last part of The Walking Dead season 2 and the first of season 3. Can I say, omigosh!

Day 67: 10.01 Miles -  I made it out to the lake with some serious gray skies and headwind, which meant my pace was slower than I was wanting. Granted, I was wanting to start out slow then speed up to achieve negative splits. I feeling good enough that I squeezed in a 10th mile, which is great! I wanted 10 miles, but wasn't sure I would make it in the days leading up to the run. After that I had a pasta lunch before running a couple of errands, one of which was stopping by Central Market to get some green juice, trial mix and an eggplant. I was very surprised I made it thought the enter store since I typically find CM claustrophobic in comparison to Whole Foods.

Day 68: 6.22 Miles - I decided to only spin this morning, which alleviated the pressure of fitting in a good workout (aka spinning then kettlebell). Granted, it helped that I woke up earlier than normal, but I'm going to chalk it up to simplifying things. My goal is to do kettlebell Friday morning. Now, I wish I didn't have to work on this dreary, stormy day!

Day 69: 0 Miles - Another rainy day! But my guy and I had some tasty Thai food for dinner!

Day 70: 3.13 Miles - I wanted 6 miles today. I had gotten up and ate a breakfast, but my stomach was achy since I've been battling dehydration and allergies. The next thing I know I only had time to get a 5k in on the gym's treadmill. Well. It's better than nothing. I would've gone back to the gym after my late shift at work, but I needed to do chores and it was a battle to pick between being an adult and a runner girl. But I didn't adult very well. Dishes are still in the sink.

Day 71: 0 Miles - A busy work week so far as left me so tired that I couldn't get up early enough to do any weight training. Boo! Date night at Chuy's I totally pigged out and felt like I was going to puke cause I had been eating healthy and portioned all week. Oops!

Day 72: 0 Miles - Work, work, work! I totally needed someone to push me out the door to go to work, but I did it. Once I was free for the weekend, I totally had an awesome time with main squeeze at Ten50 BBQ then Bates Motel afterwards!

Total Miles this week:  19.36 Miles

OMaD - Week 10 Recap

Not a bad week! We're finally into March, and looks like Spring is coming!

February 28 - March 5

Day 59:  0 Miles - Today was our Monthiversary. For brunch, I made my first ever Blueberry Puff Pancake, which MS loved! Did I mention that he's a chef? After brunch and just talking, I headed to off to work before going out to a coworkers "Going Away Dinner" afterwards. We ate Fish City Grill, which was my first time. It wasn't too bad. The fried pickles were tasty. My entree was the Quinoa, Kale, Salmon Salad, which consisted of kale, quinoa, spinach, broccoli (all chopped into smaller pieces) and topped with almonds, dried cranberries, orange zest and a grilled salmon filet. The dressing was a white balsamic vinaigrette. It was pretty tasty, I gotta say. I could've eaten more since the salad was on the smaller side, but I kept reminding myself that I'm trying to be good and not eat as much.

Day 60:  8.08 Miles - I was so incredibly tired this morning. I kept on waking up throughout the night, and when morning came I couldn't get myself to wake up. I finally did and finally made it to the lake. My goal was my usual 9 mile run, but I made the first mistake... starting out too fast. I was probably averaging about a 10:30 - 10:45 mile. It burned my legs out right at the turn around 4 miles. I walked a lot toward the end. I thought I could pull through and get myself to pass my car, which I have to do, to get the 9th mile in, but the closer that I got to Mile 8 my body was saying I was done. I also made a second mistake. I didn't bring any fuel with me. At Mile 6 I was hungry. Closer to Mile 7 I was really hungry. I couldn't imagine going for another two miles starving and not feeling awesome because of it. So, I stopped at 8 miles. I was a little disappointed, but I knew it was better than running for a shorted distance or not at all. Next week I'll try for 9 again. After that I had lunch then proceeded to pass out hard. When MS called me later I had woken up about 30 minutes before and finally made a cup of coffee, which helped my swimming head.

Day 61: 3.15 Miles - Spinned for a 5k in the gym. I tried to do a kettlebell workout, but my legs were tiiiiired. So I did some core and that was it. I'm starting to think that maybe I should spin on Tuesdays. Then Friday or Saturday morning do the kettlebell workout. Hmmm.

Day 62: 0 Miles - My started out a lot earlier than normal. I was up and about at 6:43am doing chores. I ran a load of laundry, I took a big box of broken down boxes, paid my rent, swept and mopped the floor and wiped down the bathroom. I didn't get to the bathroom floor nor the dishes, but all in good time! And I was right on time for work! Yay me!!! Oh, and while I was cleaning I had Pandora playing and this gem popped on. Oh, the memories...

Day 63:  7.01 Miles - What a beautiful day! My goal, running wise, was to get 6 miles in. Though, knowing how I tired I've been all week that I may not hit that. Well, it turns out that I got 7 instead. I ran an extension trail to the park I run through planning on getting up to Mile 4 before I got back to my two mile marker, but I didn't feel like turning around mid-trail. So yep, I was totally awesome yesterday! Granted the last mile was a little tough (I've been finding that I start to hit the wall at this distance). But what made it totally nice was the 65 degree temps, clear blue skies, and gusty winds. The wind gusts were pretty strong, but since I was running later in the morning (I slept in) it was nice to be cooled down and it helped me keep my pace in the 11:00s (a lot of head wind). Since it was my day off from work I got some chores done around the apartment before MS came over. He taught me how to make marinara sauce then to turn it into a rose sauce (marinara with cream). It's so incredibly easy and so good tasting! After dinner it was ice cream and Dexter time!

Day 64: 0 Miles - After work today I met my two best friends (JM and KJ) for some cuban food. It was so deliciously, but what was better was just talking to my girls about life. I didn't get home till midnight. Hee hee! What helped with that was we had some coffee and turnovers for dessert.

Day 65:  0 Miles - A tired morning from having a girls night the night before. A great but busy day at work, then MS came over so that we could have some the awesome tacos at Resident Taqueria. Then we got our Dexter on!
