OMaD - Week 24 Recap

According to the weather... it's officially Summer! It's getting pretty warm even at 7am for my run.

June 5 - June 11

Day 157:  0 Miles - We helped celebrated my boyfriend's mom's birthday before starting season 4 of The Walking Dead. We did take a break and went shopping for a little bit before dinner. But for the most part we tried to make it a lazy day as possible.

Day 158:  9.01 Miles - Another 9-er done. It wasn't too bad of a run. I didn't like that I had left my visor at home and I had to wear a hat, but it didn't bother me heat-wise as much as I thought it would. Yay! After that it was lunch with my besties before joining MS for his James Bond Monday viewing time.

Day 159:  3.5 Miles - I hit up the gym's cycle this morning to help with some aches from yesterday's run. I totally did not pay attention to my mileage, but I know I was on there for about 45 minutes. I'm conservatively going to say it was a good 3.5 miles.

Day 160:  0 Miles - I felt crummy, physically, all day today. I ate poorly because of that. I just wanted to go home. I made to my boyfriend's for dinner, and by that time I was feeling better.

Day 161:  4.16 Miles - I had a slow start in the morning, and I didn't get out to a park for a run until 8:30am or so. That meant it was already around 80* outside. Beautiful clear blue skies. No clouds. Only heat, heat, heat, and heat. I tried to go for a 5 miler, but by the time I got 3 I knew that I was needing to cut it short cause I felt blah and it was so hot. The hills were starting to kill me instead of me killing the hills. When I stopped an hour later it showed that 85*. Yep, time to go home. I gobbled down some eggs, two slices of bread and an apple with a cup of coffee and a water bottle. I miss spring and fall weather already!

Day 162: 0 Miles - It was a busy day at work, and I was so glad that it was over. I decided not to do a workout this morning in lieu of sleep!

Day 163: 0 Miles - I worked a half day today so that my sweet and I could go to a together with his friends. I think, after today, I have pretty much everyone one of MS's friends. Now, it's onto him meeting more of mine!

Total Miles this week: 16.67Miles

Miles to Date: 292.88 Miles

OMaD - Week 23 Recap

Oh, weather, weather. How you keep me on my toes and in bed.

May 29 - June 4

Day 150: 0 Miles - It was the plan to go run my 9 miler this morning so that I could spend aaaalll of  Memorial Day with my sweet boyfriend. However, a surprised thunderstorm squashed that idea. It turns out that it worked for the best anyway. We spent today with a "pirate brunch" - what MS had in the fridge and pantry is what we got to eat. He made the great tasting rice bowl with chorizo, onions, and a fried egg. Yum! Then it was off to IKEA!

Day 151: 9.01 Miles - Another thunderstorm nearly threatened my run, but it thankfully blew through early enough that by the time I was up and moving it was just uber cloudy and kinda muggy. The lake was full of runners and not really cyclists. I realized not even half way through my run that I left my fuel (fig newtons this time) in car. Damn! So I flipped back early to run past the car to eat some cookies before finishing the last 3 miles. It was a hard run, especially during the last half. I just have to tell myself not all runs are easy and good. Afterwards I drove to my boyfriend's where he was cooking me some oatmeal and fried eggs. Yum!! Our adventure for the day was driving out to Terrell to visit Ham's Orchard. It was crazy busy, but we had yummy BBQ and got to shop their general store (hello peaches and preserves!) before getting some ice cream! Fun fun fun!

Day 152: 0 Miles - A very busy morning! A very busy afternoon. A very busy night! What did I do today? Well. I got my car registration sticker and got some groceries. Baked three dozen cookies for a bake sale. Took my cat to the vet and dropped him off at home. Got coffee before delivering the cookies to the bake sale. Went to work and was there 20 minutes early (that's 11:40am, people!). At work I was go go go and everything. I finally sat down during dinner and had my first full meal, which made me slow down. Thankfully I had an assistant today so I was able to sneak into the back to take a webinar. Then when I got home I watched a show for an hour before doing laundry. Plus! I had to fight the urge to snack because I had to start my fast for blood work the next morning! Boo!

Day 153: 0 Miles - Happy Global Running Day! I didn't get to run today, but I hope everyone got the opportunity! I had to get up uber early for a Wednesday to drive 30 minutes to get my blood drawn at the doctor's office. "Are you fasting?" Yes, very nice nurse, yes I am. That growling isn't a tiger in my pocket. That's my tummy! Hee hee! I gobbled down a banana and an almond chocolate bar in the car before getting coffee. I feel zapped! All the energy from yesterday has gone! I took a nap during my second part of my lunch hour, and proceeded to sleep for an hour. Oops! Thankfully, my boss didn't notice and that I can use my two 15 minute breaks to make up for that!

Day 154: 5.51 Mile - I was worried that the park was going to be flooded today because of aaaalll the rain that we've been having here. However, it wasn't so bad. I had more energy than I was expecting this morning so I got in a good 5.5 before it was time to go home. I may have been able to push out a another 0.50 if I had to, but I once I saw my car I was ready to go home. During my run it totally rain on me. It was a light, but enough to push most people away from the park (it was just me and one cyclist making loops), which was nice. I gotta say, no matter how long the distance is, running in the rain makes you a badass!

Day 155: 0 Miles - A long and slow day. But afterwards MS and had dinner with some friends before heading to an epic concert in Deep Ellum. Even though it was National Donut Day we couldn't handle the long lines after the concert so we headed on home!

Day 156: 0 Miles - Work was loooong, but uber busy! Ready for the weekend!

Total Miles this week: 14.52 Miles

Miles to Date: 276.21 Miles

Exciting Updates!

Well, it's finally coming together! I'm uber excited to share with you all!

Vancouver!
Everything is coming together for my run with the SeaWheeze half marathon in Vancouver, BC! I got my little Airbnb apartment about a month or so ago. Now, just over the weekend my BFF JM decided to go with me, and I booked our flights just the other night! Aaahhh! So exciting!!!! I'll be morphing my usual maintenance runs into half marathon training runs from now on and up to the middle of August! Now, if the rain would hold off, that would be great!

So in addition to training me and JM will have to figure out what we want to see when we're there. I want to go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. My boyfriend says that we must to the Granville Island Market. I heard their public library is pretty awesome, and since I have a thing for books, I'll have to stop by! Vacation planning is so much fun!

Now, once I get to the middle of August there's no time to rest! Well, maybe a day or two. Cause I'm going straight into training for my second full marathon!

Hello, BCS Marathon
Well, I've finally come to the decision that this December I will be running among other crazy awesome people at the BCS Marathon! I've heard great reviews from social media and from my awesome runner friend in Austin.

Initially I thought of running Dallas again, but I wasn't feeling the excitement that I got when I thought of running BCS. When in doubt talk to people! I talked to my mom, my boyfriend, JBD in Austin, and my old running buddy HC about it. After a lot of hemming and hawing I came to the decision that I should run BCS. Do what makes me excited! What's even greater is HC is gonna join me and potentially another running buddy! I'm excited for this one, and I love how my boyfriend did not hesitate to say that he would go with me.

I can't wait to share more details they begin to form during the summer!
