OMaD - Week 22 Recap

One week. Two cities. Catching up on the average weekly mileage!

May 22 - 28

Day 143: 3.14 Miles - 5k morning! My family (sans my dad) participated in the Make Tracks for the Zoo 5k! It was a lot of fun. It was really early, but I have to say that I proud of my siblings for waking up really early. The course was the same as it was in 2014. There are a couple of hills, which I remember that I could not run up two years ago. I am very proud to say that I ran the entire race from start to finish (it was a little rough towards the end, but that was because I hadn't run 3 miles straight through in a long while). Plus, I shaved off almost 5 minutes off my finish time! Sweet! After the race, we walked the zoo for a little bit (got to see the polar bear!) before checking out of the hotel, having pizza with the grandparents before flying home. I nearly puked during the landing in Dallas, but I recovered in time to eat a wonderful salad with chips and salsa at Chuy's! Then it was :: finally :: home where I got to an amazing hot shower (I didn't have time to shower before checking out of the hotel. Eeeew!) and calling my boyfriend the phone before passing out.

Day 144: 0 Miles - Rest day! I knew by the way my legs felt tired and swollen the night before that I wasn't going to be able to run this morning. Instead I had a nice breakfast and helped my mom with some things. Then it was onto my apartment then seeing my better half for dinner and watching James Bond You Only Live Twice (he's doing a James Bond Monday marathon - every Monday he watches a movie in in sequence).

Day 145: 6.21 Miles - 10k this morning! I had thoughts of going to the lake to run 9, but I wasn't up to it. It was a little bit of a challenge towards the end, but I did it! On the way home I realized that I totally left my delicious leftovers at MS's so I had to swing by the store to get something for dinner. Boo! I was totally looking forward to eating this Mexican rice bowl that we had for dinner.

Day 146: 0 Miles Rest day! Yay! My boyfriend was working a double so I decided that it was time for me to whip up some magic. I made a delicious turkey veggie chili and mini corn muffins! So good! I over did it on the corn muffins (I LOVE cornbread, people! LOVE!), but I didn't feel so bad since I was healthy eating the entire day. But still.

Day 147: 5.51 Miles - The sky was cloudy and gray. Rain was coming in. Instead of the Lake I went to the local park. Mile 3 was a killer, but then I got a second wind. It started to drizzle during mile 4 and the wind was picking up a bit. From Mile 4.5 - 5.5 it was getting heavier and heavier and the wind was strong. My cadence picked up big time(bring into a sub-10 mile pace) and I made it back to the car. Back home I did a 20 minute kettlebell workout, which totally made my legs jelly like.

Day 148: 0 Miles - Last night I set my alarm to wake up early so that I could cycle for a few miles. But when I woke up an hour before the alarm, and I realized how sore my muscles were from the workout yesterday... well, I decided to sleep a little longer. For the rest of the day I was so sore. Even going to the bathroom was a challenge. I definitely had a good workout then! I should kettlebell at least once a week from now on!

Day 149: 0 Miles - What a day. Work was good. My tummy was a bit upset after eating some uber spicy Thai food (I told them a 2 on the rector scale and I think they gave me a 5). During morning I was texting between my mom and old running buddy HC about marathons (I think we've come to a decision... but I'll keep you in suspense for little while longer). I was also texting my bestest bestie JM about my Vancouver trip. More details to come on that. I'm so ready

OMaD - Week 21 Recap

What a busy week. My brother graduated with his master's this weekend, which means I had to fly out to good ol' St. Louis! It was great, but tiring! I need a vacation where I don't need to be on a schedule. Just relax, run, and relax. Maybe someday!

May 15 - 21

Day 136: 0 Miles - I had to work today, so not a lot of fun to be had. I had to wear an old pair of work ballet flats and it jacked up my legs. I was sore and tight the rest of the night.

Day 137: 9.02 Miles - Just as I stepped of the door this morning there was a downpour despite nothing on the radar. But I made it out to White Rock Lake and ran a 9 miler. It felt good to be out there again. Just to zone out... and in... and run. There were a few moments of light rain that hit me and some other runners. Nothing too crazy, but regardless, it felt a little badass to be running in participation. Hee hee! One of my hamstrings have been tight, and I think stretching it out last night didn't help either (I don't stretch often.... oops) so I was ready for the run to end even thought I about getting in another 0.30 to make it a complete 15k. Eh. After the run I had a great lunch with my friend HL at Panera bread before I walked a round a couple of stores, but headed home pretty quickly cause my hamstring was aching. Pretty much within 20 minutes I had passed out for a couple of hours. When I woke up I had leftover stuff pablano peppers and binged watched the newest season of Netflix's Grace and Frankie. I was wide awake until 1:30am... boo!

Day 138: 0 Miles - No cross training this morning. I was trying to get a head start on my packing for a family strip to St. Louis. Besides my hamstring wasn't feeling totally awesome (I know, I know... excuses, excuses). So I tried to stretch and foam roll it out while getting some coffee in me. The day at work too forrrrreeeever!

Day 139:  0 Miles - After I figured out what I was potentially going to wear (other than my running gear) I dropped my kitty off at my parents house then went on to get my car inspected. Then after lunch I made it over to MS' place to surprise him (he didn't know I was off from work) and I totally got him!

Day 140: 3.12 Miles - Initially I was going for a 5 miler, but my hamstring didn't like the treadmill either, and my mind and heart wasn't into it. Afterwards I made it down to my parents and repacked my bag to make it all fit better. Then before you know it my parents, my sister, and I were at DFW airport to fly out to St. Louis. We met my other siblings at the car rental spot then it was onto the grandparents house. I pretty much passed out around 10pm that night.

Day 141: 0 Miles - Graduation day! My not-so-little littlest brother graduated with a masters in architecture! We all survived the two ceremonies (one general assembly then school specific with combined time total of 5 hours, people!). Afterwards it was lunch at Steak 'n' Shake then onto the St. Louis Arch for a little adventure! At the end of the day, I was totally beat!

Day 142: 0 Miles - Another busy day of sorts. I, thankfully, had a leisurely breakfast time with a phone call with my love, MS, and two cups of coffee! Then we were venturing out onto the Missouri River with my grandpa's boat. Then after a lunch back at their place, we explored the Main Street of downtown St. Charles. Then it was a dinner at an Olive Garden with some of my mom's relatives. I was happy that I was able to get a steak because of my need to eat some beef so that I could be ready for a 5k the next morning! Finally, back at the hotel, we had a relaxing but very funny came of Cards Against Humanities.

OMaD - Week 20 Recap

Well. Here were.... It's the middle of May! Where is the time going?

May 8 - 14

Day 129: 0 Miles - Happy Mother's Day to all the ladies out there - including the ones that have four-legged fur babies! I had lunch with the boyfriend's mom and grandma. Then it was down to my parents! We took my mom antique shopping then I made dinner. A complete success!

Day 130: 4.01 Miles - It was all drizzly rainy morning, and it cut into my run time. By the time I got out there it was 70% humidity, 70 degrees, and had 18 mph wind. Definitely a challenging and hilly 4 miler. But I managed to do it in 43 minutes!

Day 131:  5.01 Miles - To get my miles up to a minimum of 9 I had to run a fiver this morning. I was so sleepy I didn't get out until 9am, when it was 77 degrees out already. Thankfully there was a good breeze to help cool it down a little bit. But it was very hard. My legs, especially my Achilles, were still tired from yesterday. I probably walked about 0.50 mile throughout the entire thing. Not what I preferred, but I'll take it. I'm ready for a rest day before facing another run on Thursday.

Day 132: 0 Miles - Ugh. What a day. I've been working on some reports for work. There were initially 13 of them. I thought I was down to the last four last night, but I discovered that I left two off my list. So, indeed, I had six left. Damn. I was so happy to be off from work and in the arms of my sweet who made me feel so much better.

Day 133: 0 Miles - Well. A 5 miler was in my morning's schedule. However, by the time I was almost to the park I saw that my tire light was on. Dammit. I got to the park and I took a peak at the tires. Yep. That's a screw. In my tire. Boo! So I cancelled my run to take it to the shop near by. It was a good call cause when I pulled into the lot I went through a puddle. I could hear air bubbling out when I got close to the tire. So, despite being in a cold tire shop in my running gear (thankfully I had a pull over to wear!) and not being able to run, the repair was free of charge. I preceeded to buy some cookies at the grocery store to keep my motivated to finish my reports for work. Award system, baby! One cookie per report finished. My tummy was achy by the end of the night. I think I'm done on sweets for now. I've also been dealing with unneeded stress on whether I should run a marathon or not in December and other stuff. I was a mess.

Day 134: 0 Miles - Happy Friday the 13th! The reports for work are done! Whew! I only need to provide example handouts I got from the conference (hello, scanner!). After not running and eating cookies yesterday, I feel like I've gained 50 bounds. Blah! I need veggies.

Day 135: 0 Miles - Work, work, work. And I work tomorrow. So ready to chill out next week.

OMaD - Week 19 Recap

Happy May, everyone!

May 1 - 7

Day 122: 0 Miles - We went to the zoo! It was glorious! The weather was perfect. Low 60s up to upper 70s. There were a lot of people, but there was never a line other than getting our tickets.

Day 123: 9.01 Miles - It was raining, raining, raining this morning. So I headed to the apt gym, and by the time I was about 2 miles in.... it stopped raining. Well, shoot! I wasn't about to go back to the apartment just to change clothes to run in wet 60s degree weather and drive out 20-30 mins to the lake, especially when I have a lunch date with a friend! So I trudge on! Thank God for Netflix! I watched the entire documentary on The Barkley Marathons, which was really interesting! Then I started a documentary on the Twisted Sisters.

Day 124: 3.75 Miles - Got out to the gym for a little bit after sleeping in. Elliptical work for a couple of miles. I think I like using the elliptical more than the cycle because it feels like I'm actually getting a workout. The started out pretty good, but turned frustrating. I had lost one of my orthotics that I wear in non-running type shoes (like my favorite Converse shoes). It had slipped out of purse after going shoe shopping before work. I called around and no one had seen it. Grrr! So I made a special Amazon order! Then I had a work issue that made things worse. Plus, my main squeeze MS had a rough day too, which makes me sad. The night ended on a high note, but I was so ready to be home.

Day 125: 0 Miles - What a busy day. It wasn't as rough as yesterday, however, but it was certainly frustrating! I broke into the emergency chocolate I was given just the other day. I wasn't expecting that to go so quickly! Oh well!

Day 126: 5.01 Miles - I so wanted to sleep in again today, but I knew I had to run. By the time I got to the park it was pretty full near my starting area because of a school field day, which looked pretty awesome and fun. Either way, got a good 5 miles in without feeling too, too tired or achy.

Day 127: 0 Miles - A good morning starts out with donuts and coffee. Am I right? I was busy all day at work. Then after work, the boyfriend and I went shopping for Mother's Day stuff. Mission accomplished!

Day 128: 0 Miles - What. A. Busy. Day! I was on the go all day long, but it was a good day. My fellow took me all the way into the city to eat at Velvet Taco for the first time. It was totally delicious! Well worth waiting in line!

OMaD - Week 18 Recap

It's so awesome to be home and back to a normal schedule-ish. I had a wonderful 3 day weekend, which makes we want to have so much more!

April 24 - 30

Day 115: 0 Miles - Complete rest day! MS and I had a great brunch before lazing around in the morning. Then we were off to Ikea!

Day 116: 9.32 Miles - 15k at White Rock Lake. It was humid. It was sunny. It was late in the morning. First two miles were liars and were rough. It got easier as I was heading back to my car. I got sunburned for the first time this year, which didn't pop up until later in the day. Guess I'll be slathering on sun lotion from now on!

Day 117: 0 Miles - Dentist and work. Then a big storm that turned out not be as big as they said it was going to be. At least I had time to cover my car up with tarps and such, just in case.

Day 118: 0 Miles -Was it just more or was Wednesday a long day where time almost stood still? It was busy, but it took forever for me to be free from the daily grind!

Day 119: 5.01 Miles - Well, my plan went from a 15k at White Rock to maybe a 10k at a local park to a 5 miler at the local park. With being tired and traffic I didn't have a lot of time to get the initial plan done. That being said, it was a pretty nice morning for a run. It was a type of run where you needed a nap afterwards. So after scarfing down leftover barbacoa taco meat and refried black beans and a shower I was just chillaxing on the couch. Just when I knew I needed a nap it was time for me to get ready for work! Boo! So it's a big cup of coffee a cookie for me. Now, I'm hoping I make it through another long day!

Day 120: 2.50 Miles - One more day of work this week. It was a looong day, but it ended wonderfully! I squeezed 30 minutes on the elliptical before I headed out to work. I believe work is where time slows down - always. After work however, me and the boyfriend had a dinner to celebrate our sixth monthiversary. It was wonderful! This was the first time I have ever been given flowers before. Swoon!

Day 121: 0 Miles - It was a glorious day off! Slept through a rain storm, then a relaxing morning. MS and I had awesome ramen down in Deep Ellum with a friend. So nice!
